how not to win friends for the environment
Latest Ann Arbor bumper sticker sighting on the back of a red Honda Insight-Hybrid: My car sips gas; your car sucks. Great! I thought. Just what we need to convince more people to buy cars that get better fuel economy. Nothing motivates the unmoved like a little self-righteousness from the newly moved. I couldn’t help myself, and drove next to the bumper sticker displayer. Doing a little profiling, expecting to see a middle age white guy, thin, with glasses and a beard. Sure enough, stereotype held. Middle age white guy, thin, with glasses and a beard. Sigh. We’re literally in this hurting environment together. We’re hurting it together and we’ll only be able to be kinder to it together. Could we please drop the self-righteousness? Unseemly in matters religious and environmental. And worse, ineffective, which we can’t afford to be right now.

There seems to be something strange in the air. I’ve done some testing in my lab and found it to be a rare chemical compound which I’ve named A2B3. (Ann Arborites Bi#@hing By Bumpersticker) One symptom is for the afflicted to leave the comforts ones couch and apply adhesive clad vinyl to ones vehicle. Sadly, in advanced stages, no further symptoms occur. The form of the symptom range from complaining about the environment as mentioned… to abortion, described as a woman should have the right to choose but I’m one of the good ones… to education, as I did my part getting my kids on the honor role what happened with your kid.
The only known therapy is to put the words into action and let the actions do the talking. Once this happens the vinyl will be seen for what it really is and can easily be removed.
When loving… love all.

Wow, this was 1 year ago!
The funny thing about the self righteous hybrid dude is that he did not pause long enough to imagine the negative effects on the environment that his battery will cause once it is worn out and tossed in a land fill.
